Text message alerts (SMS)

pingto.it alerts is the text-message program of pingto.it, a website and service monitoring product of Scaled Apps LLC. pingto.it checks the websites, certificates and scheduled jobs that its customers choose, and tells them when something stops working. Customers can get these alerts by email, Slack, webhook and — if they opt in — text message.

Text alerts are only ever sent to numbers that a person has added to their own pingto.it account and agreed to, as shown below. There is no other way to be signed up. They are alerts about the monitors on that account, never marketing.

How people opt in

  1. A customer signs in to pingto.it with their ScaledApps account at https://pingto.it/account.
  2. On their account's Alerts page, under Text message alerts, they enter a mobile number and tick the consent box. The box is never ticked in advance and the form can't be sent without it.
  3. We send one confirmation text to the number (example below). Alerts follow only when a monitor's status changes.
  4. Replying STOP at any time ends all texts to that number; the number can also be removed on the Alerts page.

When the form is sent we record the number, the exact words agreed to (version 2026-11-02), the time, the IP address and the signed-in person who agreed.

What we send

  • Types: a confirmation when a number is added; then alerts when a monitor goes down or recovers, and certificate expiry warnings.
  • Frequency: varies with the monitors' status — typically a few messages a month; none while everything works.
  • Cost: free from us. Message and data rates may apply from your carrier.

  • pingto.it: You are now subscribed to text alerts for Acme Inc. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
  • pingto.it: DOWN - Shop (https://shop.example.com) has been failing since 14:03 UTC. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • pingto.it: UP - Shop is working again after 12 minutes.
  • pingto.it: Certificate for shop.example.com expires in 7 days.

SMS terms

  • Program: pingto.it alerts, from Scaled Apps LLC, for pingto.it customers who opt in as shown above.
  • Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) to stop all messages. We reply once to confirm: pingto.it: You are unsubscribed and will receive no more text alerts. Reply START to resubscribe.

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy for text alerts

  • We use a mobile number only to send the alerts it was added for, and to handle STOP and HELP.
  • No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
  • Removing a number or replying STOP ends messages to it; we keep the record of the consent and the opt-out as proof.
